Skiing fundraiser set

The third annual 5-k Tsalteshi Trails “She Can Ski” Event will be held at 11:30 a.m. for the classic race and 12:30 p.m. for the skate race Feb. 4 on the trails behind Skyview High School.

Preregistration and ski waxing by the Skyview ski team will be available from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 2 at Kaladi Brothers in Soldotna. Race day registration will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Peninsula women of all ages and abilities may participate. Participants may sign up as an individual, or partner with a relative or friend. Proceeds will benefit The LeeShore Center and Tsalteshi Trails. Festive attire is encouraged and free refreshments will be served. Winter fun day planned

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is hosting a family winter fun day Feb. 3 at the Environmental Education Center on Ski Hill Road in Soldotna. Activities from 10 a.m. to noon include outdoor games and indoor crafts. Starting at 1 p.m. two guided snowshoe hikes will be offered, one for kids 9 and up, the other for 16 and up. Preregistration to snowshoe hike is required and space is limited. Snowshoes will be provided. All activities are free. To register or for more information, call Michelle at 262-7021.

Community dance set

The Kenai Elks will hold its annual Purple Bubble Ball at 6 p.m. Feb.10 at the lodge. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. It is a semi-formal event.

Live music, dancing, door prizes and split the pot are some of the planned activities. Proceeds will benefit youth activities in the community. The cost of admission is $30. Tickets are available after 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the lodge. For more information, call 283-7776.

Valentine’s Day dinner set to dish

The Nikiski Senior Center will host a Valentine’s Day dinner at 6 p.m. Feb. 10 at the center. A prime rib dinner with all the trimmings will be served. The cost of admission is $15 per person It is open to the public. For more information, call 776-7654.

Fundraiser planned

A fundraiser for John Sivley will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Vagabond Inn to help defray his medical costs.

Monetary donations may be deposited in the John Sivley account No. 3752189096 at Wells Fargo Bank.

Dodge, wallyball tourneys planned

The Police Athletic League and the Boys and Girls Club will host a free dodgeball and wallyball tournament from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Kenai Recreation Center. Youth ages 10 to 18 are eligible. Pizza and beverages will be provided.
