Nikiski boys varsity tops ACS

The Nikiski boys varsity basketball team defeated visiting Anchorage Christian Schools 58-36 on Saturday. The 55-32 victory for ACS reported in the Sunday Clarion was the score of the junior varsity game. The Bulldogs improved to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the Southcentral Conference with the victory.

Carly Davis wins final

Soldotna's Carly Davis won the Pro Women Super Stock final on Saturday at the U.S. Air Force National in Shakopee, Minn. The event was part of the International Series of Champions, Inc., AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series.

Davis took first in the first heat race and second in the second heat race before winning the final. She is in second in the Pro Women Super Stock points standings, eight points behind Kylie Abrahamson's 130 points.

Soldotna' Cory Davis also competed at the event. In Pro Open, Davis was third in his first heat race and third in his second heat race. He then finished fourth in the final. Davis is fourth in the Pro Open points standings with 107 points. Leader Ross Martin had 133 points.

Cory Davis also raced in the Pro Super Stock. He finished first in his first heat race and fourth in his second heat race. He then took eighth in the final. Davis is 11th in the Pro Super Stock points standings with 105 points. Tucker Hibbert leads with 195 points.

Mucha takes Besh Cup race

Kenai Central's Kailey Mucha won the Junior 2 and older women's race on Sunday in Homer at Besh Cup #4. The race format on Sunday were interval freestyle races.

Mucha finished the five-kilometer race in 17 minutes, 3 seconds, to edge runner-up Tristan Ramey by 7 seconds.

Also from the peninsula, Soldotna' Bree Mucha was 14th, Soldotna's Jasmine Clock was 33rd, Homer's Maggie Bursch was 37th, Homer's Frances Bursch was 43rd, Soldotna's D.Anne Martin was 45th, Soldotna's Maranda Merkes was 47th, Homer's Marie Schmidt was 55th, Homer's Shannon Wyatt was 61st, Homer's Alaine Miller was 70th, Homer's Emily Schmidt was 75th and Homer's Katie Schmidt was 76th.

In the Junior 1 and older men's race, 2009 Cook Inlet Academy graduate Lars Arneson was 10th, Kenai's Travis Semmens was 18th, Kenai's Anders Nyquist was 27th, Homer master's skier Lars Spurkland was 31st, Skyview's Hunter Jackinsky was 38th, Skyview's Brayden Holt was 39th, Homer's Andre Lovett was 48th, Soldotna's Ryan Sanders was 55th, Homer's Tux Seims was 57th, Homer master's skier Jens Klaar was 58th, Homer master's skier Atz Kilcher was 65th, Soldotna master's skier Dave Michael was 66th, Homer master's skier Paul Gutzler was 70th, Homer master's skier Jon Berryman was 72nd and Homer's Jake Mclean was 73rd.

In the Junior 5 girls race, which was one kilometer, central peninsula racer Addison Gibson finished second. In the Junior 3 and 4 girls race, which was three kilometers, Homer's Mia Alexson was 14th. In the boys Junior 5 and 6 race, which was one kilometer, Soldotna's David Michael was third and Kenai's Darius Martin was fifth. In the Junior 3 and 4 boys race, which was three kilometers, Soldotna's Levi Michael was 18th and Homer's Hoxie Parks was 23rd.

In the Junior 2 boys race, which was five kilometers, Soldotna's Lucas Michael was 15th, Soldotna's Josiah Martin was 17th, Homer's Kyle Wentz was 23rd and Homer's Dan Adickes was 25th.
