Heatley heats up net vs. New York

NEW YORK -- Dany Heatley scored three goals to lead the Atlanta Thrashers to a 4-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Heatley, who won the Calder Trophy last season as the NHL's rookie of the year, scored twice in the second period and had an empty-net goal with 37 seconds left to complete his second career hat trick.

Penguins 5, Blackhawks 3

PITTSBURGH -- Alexei Kovalev scored three goals and rarely used Randy Robitaille added a goal and three assists as Pittsburgh broke out of a scoring slump.

Robitaille moved from the Penguins' scratched list onto their first line after playing only infrequently since late November and responded by matching his career high with four points.

MONTREAL -- Andreas Salomonsson scored his first goal of the season to lift Washington to a tie with Montreal.

Trailing 1-0 after Montreal captain Saku Koivu scored his 100th career goal in the first, Washington drew even 2:26 into the third on Salomonsson's first goal in 30 games this season.

Senators 4, Sabres 3, OT

OTTAWA -- Daniel Alfredsson scored his second goal of the game at 2:22 of overtime to lift Ottawa past Buffalo.

Alfredsson took a pass from Todd White in the slot and fired a slap shot between goalie Martin Biron's legs.

Avalanche 3, Maple Leafs 0

TORONTO -- Patrick Roy tied Toronto's Ed Belfour for most shutouts among active NHL goalies as Colorado beat the Maple Leafs.

Roy made 20 saves for his 63rd shutout and second in two games. He made 18 saves Thursday night in a 5-0 victory over Columbus.

BOSTON -- Brian Rolston scored at 31 seconds of overtime and Jeff Hackett made 24 saves in his first game for Boston.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Andrew Cassels had a goal and an assist and Marc Denis stopped 29 shots to help Columbus improve to 4-0-1-0 against New York.

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Stephen Weiss scored 3:40 into overtime to lift Florida past Carolina.

ST. LOUIS -- Pierre Turgeon and Scott Young scored in a 1:48 span midway through the third period for Dallas.

Predators 3, Lightning 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Scott Walker and rookie Adam Hall scored third-period goals for Nashville.

Flames 4, Red Wings 1

CALGARY, Alberta -- Roman Turek made 27 saves to help Calgary beat Stanley Cup champion Detroit.

Sharks 4, Wild 1

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Evgeni Nabokov made 32 saves for his first victory in nine games, and Owen Nolan had a goal and an assist for San Jose.

Kings 2, Devils 1, OT

LOS ANGELES -- Ziggy Palffy scored at 3:50 of overtime and Felix Potvin made 34 saves as Los Angeles ended New Jersey's six-game winning streak.

Derek Armstrong had a goal and an assist to help the Kings improve to 3-11-1 in their last 14 games.

Scott Gomez tied it in the third period and Martin Brodeur made 30 for the Devils, 8-0-1 in their previous nine games.
