JUNEAU (AP) -- Gov. Tony Knowles created an Alaska Highway Natural Gas Policy Council on Friday and named Arco Alaska Vice President Frank Brown and former Fairbanks North Star Borough Mayor Jim Sampson as co-chairmen.
Knowles said the council will engage the public as it analyzes the many issues related to gas development before reporting back with recommendations by Nov. 30.
Knowles has made development of a pipeline between the North Slope and the Lower 48 the top priority for his final two years in office.
Knowles also announced that his administration has contracted with Cambridge Energy Research Associates to provide expert analysis on gas development.
