Montana State University announces dean's list

Seven area graduates were named to the dean's list at Montana State University Bozeman for the fall semester 2001. The students had to earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours to be named to the list. The students are Zachary Bell and Travis Haskin of Kenai, Seth McCord and Lyndi Tauriainen of Soldotna, and William Creamer, Sydney Schoepke and Clayton Smith or Homer.

SoHi student nominated to West Point

William Keller II, son of William and Carol Keller of Soldotna, was nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., by Sen. Frank Murkowski. Keller attends Soldotna High School. Murkowski nominated 30 Alaskans to three military academies, 10 to each academy. At least one nominee will be appointed to each academy. Final selections, based on merit, should be announced by spring. Appointees will commence studies at the academies in June 2002.

SoHi grad completes boot camp

Stewart Lee Blakeslee, a 2001 graduate of Soldotna High School, graduated from Naval boot camp in Great Lakes, Ill., on Dec. 6. He is now attending school at Aviation Ordinance in Pensacola, Fla. He is the son of Richard and Jane Blakeslee of Kasilof.
