Cancer activist carries torch

Posted: Monday, January 28, 2002

Former Juneau resident Mike Miller, a prostate cancer survivor and cancer awareness activist, carried the Olympic torch in front of the Capital building in Juneau last week as the torch made its way to Salt Lake City for the start of the Olympic Games. This was the first time in the history of the torch relay that Alaska was included. Miller visited Rep. Ken Lancaster's (R-Soldtotna) office in the Capital to show him the relay torch and again stress the importance of regular check-ups.
