Parents support group to meet

Peninsula Parents Anonymous will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Bridges Community Center. There is no fee. A free meal and children's program is provided. The group was started to give parents a safe and supportive place to meet.

Food handlers class planned

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation will sponsor a food-handlers class from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. There is no fee for this class. Preregistration is required.

WRCC board meeting slated

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its monthly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at 325 S. Spruce St. in Kenai. The public is invited to attend.

Peninsula Winter Games sets schedule

The following activities will be held during the Peninsula Winter Games:

An ice sculpting competition will be held from 9 a.m. Thursday through noon Saturday. The public is invited to vote for the People's Choice Award. For more information, call Norm at 262-6100.

The third annual SNO-X Snowmachine Alaskan Statewide Championship races will be Saturday at Twin Cities Raceway. For more information, call Wendy at 260-3305.

The Native Youth Olympics Competition will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Middle School. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call Laura at 283-3633.

A kids carnival will be held at the Soldotna Sports Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Activities will include face painting, ice your own cookie, bowling on ice, radar puck shoot, broom hockey, colored ice cube hunt, gear up a snowman, horse sleigh rides, snowmachine rides.

A men's basketball tournament will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Recreation Center. For more information, call Jack at 262-6355.

The Alaska Championship Dog Weight Pull begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at the sports center.

My Buddy and Me Dog Weight Pull contest will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the sports center. Children up to the age of 17 and any size or age of dog can enter. If the dog weighs under 40 pounds entrants are required to provide their own harness.

A fireworks display, sponsored by Alaska Dodge Dealers-Kenai Chrysler Center, begins at 8 p.m. at the sports center.

Hospice seeking donations

Hospice of the Central Peninsula is seeking donations for its annual Evening with Hospice auction, fine wine and gourmet appetizer fund-raiser that will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center.

Hospice helps patients and their families improve quality of life during terminal illnesses and offers bereavement counseling. All proceeds will go to hospice. For more information or to make a donation, call Sue at 262-0453.
