Family workshops offered

The Kenaitze Indian Head Start will host the following activities:

· How to Buy a Home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Family House, 120 N. Willow St. It is open to the public. For more information or to register, call Mary at 283-0707.

· Head Start alumni activity will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai. Former Head Start students and their families are invited to join current students. For more information, call Mary at 283-0707.

· A parenting class titled “Patch Work Families” on how to blend stepfamilies will be held Feb. 6 and 13. Norvell Robertson will lead the class. It is open to the public. For more information, class times or to register, call Mary at 283-0707.

Refuge plans day of fun

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is hosting a family winter fun day Saturday at the Environmental Education Center on Ski Hill Road in Soldotna. Activities from 10 a.m. to noon include outdoor games and indoor crafts. Starting at 1 p.m. two guided snowshoe hikes will be offered, one for kids 9 and up, the other for 16 and up. Preregistration to snowshoe hike is required and space is limited. Snowshoes will be provided. All activities are free. To register or for more information, call Michelle Ostrowski at 262-7021.

Spaghetti feed fundraiser set to dish

The Elks Club will sponsor at spaghetti feed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 10 as a fundraiser for purchasing weight room equipment for the Soldotna High School. Tickets are $5.

Annual wine tasting, auction to be held

Hospice of the Central Peninsula's 11th annual Hospice Auction and Wine Tasting will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Gourmet appetizers and specialty wines will be served. A silent auction, live auction and variety of instant purchases are some of the planned activities. Peninsula women break for lunch

The Peninsula Take-A-Break will hold a Valentines luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Solid Rock Conference Center, Mile 90.5 Sterling Highway. It is open to all women. Lunch is $10. Childcare will be provided.

Frontier community board meeting set

Frontier Community Services board of directors will meet from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at Kenai River Center on Funny River Road in Soldotna.
