SoHi skaters get past Kardinals

Soldotna’s Holly Perkins scored a pair of goals and the Stars closed out the North Star Conference regular season with a 3-2 win over Kenai Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Brian Herring scored the first goal of the game for the Stars, assisted by Perkins, 6:47 into the game.

Perkins then made it a 2-0 Stars advantage, scoring at 10:09 of the first period with assists from Herring and Ben Christianson.

Kenai cut the deficit to one on an unassisted goal from Nelson Kempf at 8:34 of the second period.

Perkins gave the Stars an insurance goal with 2:16 left in the third period, assisted by Kevin Garske and Christianson.

Kenai pulled back to within one when Owen Dukowitz scored at 13:36 of the third period, assisted by Kegan Kiel, after Kenai pulled its goalie for an extra skater, but the Kardinals weren’t able to find the equalizer.

Kenai goaltender Ben Boycott made 22 saves. Soldotna goalie Micah Perletti came up with 23 stops.

Skyview 5, Homer 2

The Panthers finished off the regular season with a 5-2 North Star Conference win over Homer Saturday at Homer Ice Rink.

Skyview and Homer were tied after the first period, but the Panthers scored two goals in each of the next two periods to pull away for the win.

Three different players found the back of the net for the Panthers as Scott Ralston and Paddy Iverson each scored twice, and Josh Cho added an empty-netter to close out the third period.

Adam Trieweiler and Matt Satre scored for the Mariners.
