Mischaracterization draws apology

Posted: Friday, January 29, 2010

Regarding the op/ed piece relating the events of the Kenai Council's decision to block public comment: After receiving a personal call and getting clear understanding of what happened, I confess that I characterized the wrong people as the bad guys. I am truly sorry and I wish that each of them would accept my apology.

When I hear of anyone being hindered from speaking to government representatives, the hackles go up. I am a fierce contender for the right of the people to be heard. When government tells people they will not be heard, I get angry ... I don't care whether I agree with their point of view or not, I simply believe they have the right to speak.

Again, my apologies to those I mischaracterized. And my thanks to that individual who had the thoughtfulness of speaking to me in private.
