NEW YORK -- Frantisek Kaberle had a goal and two assists as the Atlanta Thrashers returned to Madison Square Garden -- the site of their last victory 16 games ago -- and again beat the New York Rangers 7-2 Monday night.
Patrik Stefan had three assists for Atlanta, which went 0-10-3-1 since beating the Rangers 4-1 on Dec. 28. That victory put the Thrashers over .500 (15-14-6-1) for the first time in the team's two-year history.
The Rangers lost their fourth straight game -- including three at home -- on the heels of a season-best five-game unbeaten streak.
Hurricanes 5, Lightning 2
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Jeff O'Neill scored twice and Ron Francis added three assists as Carolina extended Tampa Bay's NHL-worst losing streak to 10 straight.
The Hurricanes snapped a three-game home losing streak and improved to 8-3-2 (18 points) this month -- the best January in franchise history. The previous best of 17 points was set in 1987-88 and 1995-96 when the team played in Hartford, Conn.
Meanwhile, Tampa Bay has been outscored 36-13 during its losing streak and fell to 0-9 without captain Vincent Lecavalier, who is out with a broken left foot.
Blues 2, Maple Leafs 1
ST. LOUIS -- Mike Eastwood scored a short-handed goal in the third period to give St. Louis the win over Toronto.
Eastwood gathered a loose puck at the Toronto blue line, moved in and beat Toronto goalie Curtis Joseph at 4:47 of the third period.
It was St. Louis' 10th short-handed goal of the season, tied with Chicago for most in the NHL.
Vladimir Chebaturkin also scored for St. Louis and Shayne Corson scored for Toronto.
Predators 5, Coyotes 2
PHOENIX -- Mark Eaton had a goal and an assist and Mike Dunham made 22 saves as Nashville defeated Phoenix.
Marian Cisar had an early power-play goal for the Predators, and Kimmo Timonen, Patric Kjellberg and Drake Berehowsky scored in the third period.
Mika Alatalo and Daniel Briere scored for Phoenix.
