Capital requests from borough service areas are part of the legislative package presented last week in Juneau by Kenai Peninsula Borough officials. Here is a list of the projects or needs topping the wish lists of each of those service areas. Only the amount requested from the state is shown. In some cases, project funding includes a sizable local match:
Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Service Area: $365,000 for a satellite fire station at Nikolaevsk;
Bear Creek Fire Service Area: $125,000 to replace a rescue-pumper truck;
Central Emergency Service Area: $37,500 to install a rural water supply;
Central Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area: an undetermined amount to digitalize medical records;
Kachemak Emergency Service Area: $180,000 for a fast-attack fire engine;
Kenai Peninsula Borough Road Service Area: $3.65 million for assorted road improvements;
Nikiski Fire Service Area: $500,000 to construct improvements to the Nikiski Emergency Access Route;
Nikiski Senior Service Area: $3.75 million for Nikiski senior housing;
North Peninsula Recreation Service Area: $400,000 for construction of a community center;
South Peninsula Hospital Service Area: $275,000 for an emergency water system.
