Bradford Memorial race canceled

The Claude Bradford Memorial sled dog race has been canceled due to poor trail conditions. The Al York junior race will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Soldotna airport. For more information, call (907) 252-5350.

KMS to raffle off boat

Kenai Middle School is raffling off a 15-foot, custom drift boat built by students at the school. Tickets are $25 each, and only 100 will be sold. The drawing will be held Friday. To view the boat or purchase tickets, visit Kenai Middle School.

The North Peninsula Community Council will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at the Nikiski Senior Center.

Timber meeting planned

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Community and Economic Development Division will hold a timber industry meeting Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the CARTS building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. For more information, call 262-6355.

Marketing workshop planned

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank and Bridges will sponsor a marketing basics workshop Feb. 7 from 1 until 5 p.m. at Bridges in Soldotna. The cost is $30, and preregistration is required. For more information, call 262-4120.

Hospice wine tasting planned

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will host its annual wine tasting and auction event Feb. 8 from 7 until 10 p.m. at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Auction items include artwork, gift items and a trip to Hawaii. Door prizes also will be given. Event tickets are $40 per person. For more information, call 262-0453.

Turnagain Pass closed to motorized use

Several areas of Chugach National Forest are closed to motorized use. Turnagain Pass, Lost Lake, Placer River and the Twentymile corridor are closed due to lack of snow.

Riders are advised to use extreme caution when riding snowmachines in open areas of the forest. For more information, call (907) 224-3374.
