Beekeepers meeting set

Bee Keeping Education Exchange on the Kenai Peninsula will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the music room at Soldotna Middle School.

Public comment sought

The Department of Environmental Conservation will hold workshops to solicit public comments on the updated Alaska food code.

The proposed changes include an enhanced food safety program and active managerial control (AMC). The AMC requires food establishments to have standard operating procedures and a self-assessment process to be conducted by trained and certified food protection managers and food handlers.

The workshop is scheduled from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday in assembly chambers at the Borough Building in Soldotna.

Wallyball tourney slated

The Kenai Recreation Center will host its annual Valentine's wallyball tournament Feb.12. The format will be men's three on three, women's three on three and co-ed three on three. Forms and payments are due by Friday. For more information, call 283-3855.

Wine, auction fund-raiser set

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will hold its Winter Wine Event from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Six gourmet appetizer courses will be complimented by wines throughout the evening. All proceeds will benefit hospice. The event usually sells out; advanced ticket purchase is suggested. Gardeners conference set

A statewide master gardeners conference will be held Feb. 11 and 12 at Kenai Peninsula College. Topics will include vegetable growing, herbs, shade perennials, germinating natives from seeds, apple tree growing and gourmet baby greens. Vendor space still is available.
