CPH board meeting today

Central Peninsula Hospital Inc., board of directors will hold its monthly meeting at 4:30 p.m. today in the Iliamna Room at Central Peninsula Hospital.

Wind energy to be discussed

Homer Electric Association will host an open forum on utility-scale wind generation technology at 6 p.m. today at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai. It is open to the public.

Kids craft fair Saturday

Soldotna Community Schools and Soldotna High School National Honor Society will host free a make it and take it craft fair for kids in grades kindergarten through sixth from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Soldotna Middle School. Kids will have an opportunity to create valentine and spring themed crafts.

Women's ski event set

Tsalteshi Trail Association will hold its fourth annual "She Can Ski" women's event Sunday at the Skyview High School trailhead. Women of all ages and ability levels are welcome. Festive dress is encouraged and prizes will be awarded. The event is a fundraiser for The LeeShore Center and the Tsalteshi Trails.

Beemuns will provide free ski-waxing for the event to the first 20 customers dropping off skis today or Friday.

The Skyview High School ski team also will be available to wax skis for donations during preregistration from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Kaladi Brothers in Soldotna. There will be expedited bib pick-up for preregistered participants prior to the race. Registration on race day will begin at 10:30 a.m. A 5K classic race begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by a 5K skate race at 12:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded immediately following the races.

T-200 volunteer dinner set

The Tustumena 200 Sled Dog Race will hold a volunteer appreciation celebration at 6 p.m. Feb. 9. It will be hosted by the Tustumena Lodge at Mile 111, Sterling Highway in Kasilof. For more information, call Evy Gebhardt at 335-1243.

Babies born in '07 sought

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will host a "Babies of 2007" lunch and present exchange at noon Feb. 16 at Froso's Restaurant. A picture of babies born in 2007 on the peninsula will be taken. Parents who wish to participate in the gift exchange are asked to bring a gift.
