On patrol

1st Lt. Kyle Bushon of Soldotna is shown while on foot patrol in Karbala, Iraq. Bushon is a platoon leader in the 2-69 Combined Arms Battalion out of Ft. Benning, Ga. He has 16 soldiers under his command and is responsible for escorting high level U.S. State Department officials on provincial reconstruction missions, joint U.S. and Iraqi Army combat missions, and combat logistics patrols.

Lt. Bushon joined the Army shortly after graduating from Rutgers University in 2006. Since obtaining his commission, Kyle has graduated from the Armor Basic Officer Leader Course at Ft. Knox and Airborne and Air Assault Schools at Ft. Benning. Bushon is a 2002 graduate of Soldotna High School. He is the son of Sam and Rosemary Bushon of Soldotna and brother of Quentin, of Minneapolis, Minn.
