Concert planned

The Performing Arts Society will presents The Sitka Summer Music Festival Musicians in concert at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Paul Rosenthal, Sitka Festival director and virtuoso violinist, returns to share with us his love of classical chamber music. Also on the program Armen Ksajikian on cello and David Brady, violist, and Judith Cohen, pianist. The concert will include the Taneyev String Trio, the Saint-Saens Piano Quartet, and other chamber works. Tickets are $15 general admission, and $10 for students, and may be purchased at Already Read Books, Northcountry Fair, River City Books, Sweeney's and at the door.

Dinner fundraiser slated

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Soldotna High School. Funds will benefit Marisol Tapia who is fighting breast cancer. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for youth ages 12 years old and under.

There is also an account set up at Wells Fargo to make donations. For more information, call Stephanie Bohrnsen at 260-7000.

Fashion show fundraiser set

The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease will host a "Go Red" red dress fashion show at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Denali room at Central Peninsula Hospital. Admission price is $5. Tickets are available at Charlotte's, River City Books, CPH gift shop or at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Cardiac Patient Support Network at the hospital.

Haiti fundraiser slated

Skyview High School will host a community open house to raise funds for the Haiti relief efforts from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 11 at the school. Dancing, music, silent auction and games are some of the planned activities. A 'dive in" showing of the movie "Finding Nemo" also is planned from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will be able to swim while watching the movie. Limited space is available and is on first-come first-served basis.

Suggested donations are $6 for adults, $4 for youth ages 5-15 years old and children ages 4 years old and younger are admitted in for free. Money will go to the Haiti relief efforts through the American Red Cross. Call 260-2300, for more information.

Cancer fundraiser planned

The annual St. Baldrick's Foundation event in Soldotna to raise money for childhood cancer research is set for March 20 at 6 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Volunteers are needed to have their heads shaved in exchange for donations Also needed are items to raffle, barbers and hairstylists and volunteers for the evening of the event. To volunteer or donate, call Dan Nelson at 252-0369 or Marcia Jacobs at 394-4030.

Cinderella seeks fairy god-mothers

The Soldotna High School Student Council is collecting gently used homecoming, prom, and bridesmaid dresses/shoes/accessories for Cinderella's Closet 2010.
