Borough office to conduct siren test

The Kenai Peninsula Borough's Office of Emergency Management will conduct its alert siren test Thursday at noon. This test is conducted the first Thursday of each month unless it's a holiday.

KPB Superintendent to speak at luncheon

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is holding its weekly luncheon today at noon at the Lighthouse Inn. Donna Peterson, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District superintendent will be speaking.

The luncheon is open to the public.

Unocal Alaska vice president speaker at banquet

Charles Pierce, the vice president of Unocal Alaska, is scheduled to be the speaker at the North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce banquet Saturday.

The theme of the banquet will be "Gas is Good," with Pierce speaking on gas exploration on the peninsula.

The evening will start with a no-host bar at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7. The Lighthouse Inn will be providing the catering.

Cribbage tournament set to begin Sunday

The Cook Inlet Lions are sponsoring the eighth annual Kenai Peninsula Cribbage Tournament starting Sunday at 3 p.m. The games will continue on Sundays through May 6.

The public is welcome to attend at the Nikiski Senior Center. For more information, call 776-5688 or 776-5339.

Center to provide for those in need

The Independent Living Center will put together a Community Closet to provide those with disabilities with equipment at a low cost.

The center is looking for donations of wheelchairs, walkers and equipment for vision and hearing impairments.

Rotary club in need of computers

The Soldotna Rotary Club is looking for donations of used computers with a Pentium or equivalent processor. These computers will be refurbished and used to supply Rotary International programs.
