Sterling pastor turns author to publish book for Christians

Posted: Friday, February 01, 2002

Lee E. Scaggs of Sterling has published a book titled, "Enter God's Rest." The author's goal for the book is to see Christians set free from the bondage of guilt, shame, self-condemnation and the judgements of others. It reveals how to be at peace and rest, "by grace through faith."

Scaggs and his wife, Mary, retired and came to Sterling from California in May 1995 and bought a home on the Sterling Highway. They operate the Alaskan Abode Bed and Breakfast there.

Since coming to Alaska, Scaggs has taught adult Sunday school and filled in as pulpit supply for numerous churches and in short-term pastoral supply.

Scaggs served as pastor of Grace Baptist in Fort Bragg. Calif., for eight years. He served as pastor of the University Park Bible Church in Fairbanks from 1975 to 1977.

He worked as an electronics engineer in "silicon valley" California. He has a personal Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for engineering work done in digitizing video. While working as an engineer, he started a church in East San Jose, Calif., bought property, built a building and seven years later turned the church over to a full-time pastor.

To obtain a copy of the book, contact Scaggs at 262-9719.
