Seward girls shut down Houston

The Seward girls basketball relied on its stingy defense to pick up a District 3/3A victory Friday at Houston. The Seahawks won 47-32.

Emma Seigel had 14 points for the Seahawks, while Breanna Bardarson pitched in 10.

Using perfect free-throw shooting, the host Moose pulled away from the Mariners in the fourth quarter for a Region III/4A victory Friday. Palmer went into the fourth quarter with a 36-34 lead and hit all 10 of its foul shots in the fourth quarter.

Emily Bolling had 17 points for the Moose, while Keisha Hooker added 16. For Homer, Channing Setterquist dumped in 15 points.
