Besh Cup ski races postponed
The Besh Cup ski races scheduled for Salcha and Fairbanks on Saturday and Sunday have been postponed until Feb. 9 and 10. The races have been postponed due to forecasts of temperatures below the cutoff point of minus 4 degrees. On Feb. 9, Salcha will host a freestyle race starting at 11 a.m. On Feb. 10, Birch Hill will host a classical mass start starting at 11 a.m.
Alexson, Neyman win Tsalteshi races
Pete Alexson and Jenny Neyman won at the Tsalteshi Race Series on Tuesday night at Tsalteshi Trails, which are located behind Skyview High School.
This week was a 5-kilometer freestyle race. Alexson cruised to victory in 16 minutes, 5 seconds, while John Mohorcich finished second in 18:36. Neyman had a time of 22:18, while runner-up Laura Mohorcich finished at 23:43.
There will be a race at Tsalteshi Trails every Tuesday until March 4. The next race will be a classical race. The series targets intermediate or advanced skiers who want to prepare for races like the Tour of Anchorage or who want to get in good shape for skiing.
