Congratulations to seventh-grader Ryan Burow for winning the school spelling bee. He will represent the school at the state spelling bee in Anchorage.

The children performed "Peter Rabbit" Saturday at the Reading Carnival.

Parents and friends gathered Monday night for the quarterly family potluck and entertainment by the students. Older students sang old-fashioned hobo songs with accompaniment. The preschoolers and kindergarten students did their part with "Jingle Bells" and "Frosty." They will perform "Peter Rabbit" at the Soldotna Public Library story hour today and at Kenai Community Library Thursday.

The 100th day of school was celebrated Tuesday. Students brought collections of 100 items to be counted. Students read the 100th Psalm for devotion. The kindergarten students made a paper chain of 100 links.

Mr. Leckwee has the third- and fourth-grade basketball team working hard on the court. They are part of the Boys and Girls Club basketball program and have practices at the Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School gym.
