Soldotna hockey tops Colony

Soldotna sophomore Alex Stone scored with 3:19 left in the fourth

overtime to lift Soldotna to a 2-1 victory over Colony on Thursday in the

first round of the Northern Lights Conference hockey tournament at the

Palmer Ice Arena.

The Stars, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, face Wasilla, the No. 2

seed, today at 8 p.m. Colony, the No. 6 seed, ends its season.

The Knights struck first in the first period when Logan Huppert scored

unassisted with 10:34 on the clock. Stone evened the score at 4:18 of the

second period when he scored on assists from Holly Perkins and Whitney

Ischi.

Soldotna goalie Micah Perletti and Colony goalie Joe Nyberg then kept a

clean slate through three eight-minute overtimes until Stone finally ended

the contest.
