University of Kansas junior right-handed pitcher Hiarali Garcia will join the Peninsula Oilers this summer. In 2006, Garcia played at Eastern Oklahoma State under current Oilers head coach Aric Thomas. At Eastern Oklahoma State, Garcia was a National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region II selection and a Division I All-Region Second Team pick. Garcia made 12 starts for the Mountaineers and went 6-3 with a 2.58 ERA, allowing 69 hits in 82 2-3 innings. Garcia struck out 89 and walked just 22. Garcia calls Windsor, Ontario, home.
Oral Roberts University catcher Joe Patterson also has signed up to join the Oilers. Patterson is an athletic, offensive catcher with a lot of power. The left-handed hitter was considered one of the top prep hitters in Oklahoma. He helped lead his high school team to a No. 1 national ranking in USA Today during 2006 by batting .355 despite playing most of the season with a shoulder injury. He was selected first-team all-Frontier Valley Conference and earned Tulsa World All-Metro Second Team as a senior.
