Christensen plays for Cornell women

Lauren Christensen of Soldotna is a member of the Cornell College women's basketball team. Christensen, a 2003 graduate of Soldotna High School, is a sophomore majoring in communications and business. She is the daughter of John and Paula Christensen of Soldotna.

Bosick makes plays for William Woods

Molly Bosick, a Ninilchik school graduate, is a junior on the basketball team at William Woods University. Bosick scored eight points as Woods notched a 58-50 American Midwest Conference victory over Williams Baptist on Jan. 25.

Liebner finishes second in ski marathon

Soldotna High School graduate Andy Liebner finished second in the Noquemanon Ski Marathon Saturday at Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Liebner finished the 51-kilometer race in a time of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 14.8 seconds. The winner, Matt Weier, defeated Liebner by eight-tenths of a second.

Liebner, in his first-ever ski marathon, and Weier were side-by-side with 50 meters left, sprinting for the finish line. Weier edged Liebner at the finish.
