Longtime Nikiski resident Dawn "Cheryl" Featherstone died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 at her home in Nikiski. She was 65.
A celebration of her life will be held in the summer of 2008.
Ms. Featherstone was born July 23, 1942 to Waldon Lester and Frances "Frankie" Hollyce (Gwynn) May in Arizona. She was a high school graduate. She moved to Nikiski is 1972 and was a homemaker. She was an animal lover and always had pets. She enjoyed snowmachining and four-wheeling until her health prevented her from doing it.
"Even though her health was bad she always smiled. She was the best friend that I could ever have," wrote her best friend and caregiver, Linda Laughridge of Nikiski.
Ms. Featherstone was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her sisters, Mardean Berg of Half Moon Bay, Calif., and Weegee Johnson of Clyde, Texas; and brother, Button May of Ovalo, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ms. Featherstone's memory to the Alaska Extended Life Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 8051, Nikiski, AK 99635.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
