Soldotna resident Eldon Earl Gibson Jr., 45, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, of a heart attack.
Memorial services will be held for family and close friends at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Peninsula Memorial Chapel, 5839 Kenai Spur Highway, in Kenai. A celebration of life will be held at 33115 Gas Well Road in Soldotna at 3 p.m. on the same day.
Mr. Gibson was born Oct. 10, 1965, in Tacoma, Wash. He became a resident of Alaska in 1969 and lived in Soldotna, Wasilla and Anchorage. He was a mechanic who loved fishing, car racing, and being in the outdoors.
The family wrote, "He loved the sea, loved to be around his family, and loved to work on cars and big rigs. He was greatly loved and will be extremely missed."
He was preceded in death by Eldon E. Gibson Sr., Nancy Littleton, Norma Gibson and Paul M. Gibson.
Mr. Gibson is survived by his fiance, Kelly Selby, of Soldotna; sons Brandon Gibson, of Tacoma, Wash., and Robert Daily, of Saint Louis, Mo.; daughter Crystal Gibson, of Shoreline, Wash.; brother Jesse A. Gibson, of Kenai; sisters Nancy LB Ross, of Soldotna, and Sherie Dobson, of Sterling; brothers-in-law Larry Dobson, Curt Dobson, Dave Dobson, and Donald Dobson, all of Sterling; and Wilbert Ross III, of Soldotna; granddaughters Veyda Rice and Julianna Garcia, both of Shoreline, Wash., and Allie-Jo Gibson, of Tacoma, Wash.; grandson Noah Gibson, of Tacoma, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
