All drivers are reminded to observe the school zone speed limit of 20 mph, stop for children at crosswalks and slow down in the school parking lots, where the speed limit is 5 mph. Local law enforcement has been asked to increase their patrol in the area. Drivers are asked to allow plenty of time to reach their destinations and to drive with extreme caution.
The fifth-grade band will perform at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Redoubt gym.
The PTA will meet at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the school lounge.
The site council will meet at 3:45 p.m. Feb. 11 in the school conference room.
Individual and class photos will be taken Feb. 12. All students will be photographed and complete photo packets will be sent home. Parents may pay for photos they wish to keep and return remaining photos. Parents are under no obligation to purchase any photos.
Parent conferences and the book fair will be Feb. 13 and 16. Parents are asked to return conference scheduling forms as soon as possible.
Business owners can advertise and support the school by sponsoring a page in the school yearbook for a suggested donation of $20. Relatives and friends can dedicate a personal message to a special student or teacher for $10. Contact Ms. Haddix for more information.
Students in grades three through six will take the Terra Nova and Benchmark assessment exams Feb. 16 to 27. Students can do their best on test days and every school day when they have had adequate sleep and have eaten breakfast.
All students should come to school with appropriate winter clothing, including a hat or hood, gloves or mittens, boots and a winter coat. Snow pants are recommended and required for the sledding hill. Parents who need help acquiring these items are encouraged to contact the school. Winter clothing donations always are needed and appreciated.
