Former Alaska resident Myrle Necrason died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at home in Port Orchard, Wash., with her family by her side. She was 92.
Catholic services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Haven of Rest Chapel in Gig Harbor, Wash. A graveside service will follow.
Mrs. Necrason was born in Currituck, N.C. and grew up in Virginia Beach, Va. She joined the Women’s Air Force, attaining the rank of captain. Myrle and her husband, Gen. “Nick” were assigned to many different posts and traveled to various places around the world. They made Alaska their home for more than 40 years.
“Tenderly known as ‘Myrlie’ by close friends and family, she was the widow of Major Gen. C.F. Necrason. Her love and faith touched the lives of all who had the great privilege to know her,” her family said.
She is survived by daughters, Sandra Kelly of Port Orchard and Ginger Longiny of Ninilchik; brother, Garland Caffee of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Nick Kelly, Brideen Blazier, Kevin Wertman, April Wertman and Michael Longiny; great-grandchildren, Gryphon, Jaden and Arwen Blazier and Cassy and Shaelyn Kelly; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Washington.
