Former Ninilchik resident Vernice Evelyn Springer died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nev. She was 87.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Yankee Hill, Calif.
Mrs. Springer was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Westbrook, Minn., to Reinhold and Deana Rath Ewy. At the time of her death she was a resident of California, a homemaker and Lutheran by faith. Her many activities included being a volunteer for Hospice at the Paradise, Calif., thrift shop and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Ninilchik.
“She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, keeping her home immaculate, her green thumb with plants and traveling. She was also known to her friends and family as ‘Brownie,’” her family said.
Mrs. Springer was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wesley Ewy; and husbands, Mahlon Roy Heil and Floyd “Bo” Nelson Springer.
She is survived by son, Dennis Springer of Paradise; daughters, Darla Peterson of Ninilchik and Dyllone Robertson of Oldtown, Idaho; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Walton Funeral Home in Reno.
