Good day to all my Nikiski neighbors.

Congratulations to all the senior volunteers who logged 467.25 hours between October and December. Thank you for your efforts during a busy time of year.

Don't forget to bundle those little ones up for school. Elementary school children are outside for recess unless the temperature dips below minus 10 degrees.

There is no school Thursday and Friday due to parent-teacher conferences.

Nikiski Firefighter T-shirts are available in three sizes, which can be purchased at Nikiski Fire Station No. 1 to support the Nikiski Fire Fighter Association.

The Nikiski Fire Department also has a snazzy informative Web site at

A Body for Life kick off party will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elite Health and Fitness. The informational meeting is free, however to participate it would cost to join the gym.

Happy belated anniversary to Jason and Julie Murray.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Jeanine Russell on Feb. 4; Ed Hornstra and Debra Little on Feb. 5; Shirley Hislop on Feb. 8; and Malcolm Yerkes on Feb. 10.

Nikiski neighbor Evelyn Redding wanted to let friends and family of Sgt. Christopher Donald Ross know that he returned from Iraq in January after serving in the military there since January of last year. His wife and five children are very happy that he is back in the U.S. and safe.

He is the oldest son of Evelyn and her husband, Clinton; and grandson of Alexander M. Ross Sr.

He has two brothers and a sister that are happy too!

I am seeking news and potential neighbors to interview, so give me a call.
