The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kenai Peninsula is taking registrations for indoor soccer. The event is open to youth ages 4 years old (by Friday) through fifth grade. Deadline to register is 4 p.m. Friday.
The deadline is firm and late registration will be done on a space available basis. Registration is done at the Kenai Rec Center. Cost is $60 and must be a current 2010 member. Practices start the week of March 22.

The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease will host a "Go Red" red dress fashion show at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Denali room at Central Peninsula Hospital. Admission price is $5. Tickets are available at Charlottes, River City Books, CPH gift shop or at the door.
Proceeds will benefit the Cardiac Patient Support Network at the hospital.
The community is invited to attend a Bead Party from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Elite Health and Fitness at Mile 16 of the Kenai Spur Highway. All proceeds will benefit the women of Uganda who make the beads and jewelry. For more information, call 283-2270 or 252-8842.

Skyview High School will host a community open house to raise funds for the Haiti relief efforts from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 11 at the school. Dancing, music, silent auction and games are some of the planned activities. A 'dive in" showing of the movie "Finding Nemo" also is planned from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will be able to swim while watching the movie. Limited space is available and is on first-come first-served basis.
Suggested donations are $6 for adults, $4 for youth ages 5-15 years old and children ages 4 years old and younger are admitted in for free. Money will go to the Haiti relief efforts through the American Red Cross. Call 260-2300, for more information.
It is time to register for the 2010 "Way Out Women" (WOW) snow machine ride benefiting cancer patients throughout the Kenai Peninsula. The group raises money with this annual ride to benefit local oncology patients and the funds are administered by the Central Peninsula Health Foundation.
$100 entry fee includes: Continental breakfast before the ride, lunch, goody bag, limited edition T-shirt and entry for door prizes, costume contest and silent auction
Festivities will begin Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at a "Meet and Greet" at the Clam Shell Lodge in Clam Gulch. Riders will gather at the Clam Shell again for continental breakfast Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. The first team will start out of the lodge at 11 a.m. Costumes are encouraged and will be rewarded. The course is set up so that all levels of riders can join in the fun. There will be door prizes, the Wild and Wooly contest, silent auction items and other events.

The Nikiski High School Wrestling team will have an ice fishing tournament at Island Lake, on Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The cost is $15 for ages 15 and under and $20 for youth ages 16 and over.
There will be prizes awarded for first, second and third places in both groups, including a Power Ice Auger, Quick Flip three Ice Shacks, Hi Tech Bucket Fishing Package and Ice Fishing Rod Combos.

The seventh annual Senior Olympic games will be held Feb. 16 through 20. There will be 15 games planned and winners will receive gold, silver or bronze medals. A no-host dinner will be held at Ginger's Restaurant after the awards ceremony. Participants must be at least 55-years-old to participate. The 30th annual AFS gourmet dinner fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Catholic Church in Kenai. Tickets are available at River City Books and from AFS members. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children 14 years old and under.
This is a fundraiser for Kenai Peninsula students wishing to go abroad on a student exchange with the AFS program and for families hosting AFS students here.
