Soldotna woman receives law degree

Kate M. Chaussee of Soldotna recently received a law degree from the University of Iowa.

Students named to dean's list

Jessica Fredrickson of Seward recently was named to the 2000-01 fall dean's list at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.

The list is comprised of students who earned a 3.70 grade point average or higher for the semester.

Kara Pike of Kenai has been named to the University of Evansville dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the 2000 fall semester.

To be named to the list, a student must have earned a 3.5 grade point average while carrying 12 or more credits.

She is the daughter of Richard and Susan Pike of Kenai.

Shannon Raye Carlon of Sterling was named to the dean's list at Pensacola Christian College for academic achievement during the 2000 fall semester.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Carlon of Sterling.

Erin Kristine Magee of Kenai was named to the dean's list at the University of Montana. To place on the list, a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average in nine credits.

She is the daughter of Jim and Jan Magee of Kenai.

Elizabeth Roberts of Kenai was named to the dean's list at the University of Idaho.

Ann White of Kenai was named to the dean's list at the University of Idaho.

Abigail Zerbe of Soldotna was named to the dean's list at the University of Idaho.

Jeannie Young of Soldotna was named to the dean's list at the University of Idaho.

Kenai residents enlist in Navy

Jeremiah J. Paskewitz of Kenai recently joined the Navy for guaranteed training in the Aviation Boatswain's Mate Program. He joined the Delayed Entry Program and will report for active duty in May, when he will attend basic training at Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill.

He is the son of Neil and Reeva Paskewitz of Kenai and attended Kenai Alternative High School.

Jonathan H. Zundel of Kenai recently joined the Navy for guaranteed training in the Submarine Electronic Computer Field. He joined the Delayed Entry Program and will report for active duty in July, when he will attend basic training at Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill.

He is the son of Glen and Patricia Zundel of Kenai and is currently attending Nikiski High School.

Soldotna man departs on Sea Term Cruise

Cadet Brett Merrill of Soldotna left in January for the annual Sea Term Cruise with the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

He will be at sea for 50 days and visit two foreign countries as well as two U.S. ports. The Sea Term is a critical component of a cadet's academic life at the academy. During their time at sea, cadets will undergo rigorous training in several different academic disciplines, including marine engineering, marine transportation and marine safety and environmental engineering.
