Public hearings on school budget continue

The public is invited to an informational presentation, question-and-answer session and discussion forum about the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District's operating budget for the 2002-03 school year. The district is facing major cutbacks. The hearings begin tonight. The schedule is:

Seward High School Auditorium, 7 p.m. today;

Soldotna High School library, 7 p.m. Wednesday;

Kenai Central High School Little Theater, 7 p.m. Thursday;

Homer High School library, 7 p.m. Monday; and

Nikiski Middle-Senior High School library, 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Business adviser addresses Soldotna chamber

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon today at the Riverside House for its weekly luncheon meeting. Mark Gregory, from the Small Business Development Center, will speak. For more information, call 262-9814.

Registration open for music class

The Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula is accepting registration for its Music and Movement classes. The classes are open for children ages 3 to 5 and will meet Wednesdays for 12 weeks from noon to 1 p.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. beginning this Wednesday. Cost for the class is $50, plus a $10 membership for new participants. Class size is limited. For more information, call Kim Lee at 283-2682.

Hospice hosts fund-raiser Saturday

Tickets are available for the annual auction and wine tasting hosted by Hospice of the Central Peninsula. The event is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center. Tickets cost $75 per couple or $37.50 per person and available by calling 262-0453.

Developmental screening offered

Frontier Community Services Early Intervention will offer a free developmental screening clinic Saturday for newborns to children age 3. For more information, call Renie Aragon at 262-3144.

Allergy group changes meeting plans

The meeting for the Peninsula Allergy network has been changed from Feb. 14 to Feb. 12. Everyone who deals with environmental or food allergies or intolerances is welcome to attend. It's free. Bring recipes, cookbooks or other information to share. The group meets at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna at 6:30 pm. The church is one quarter mile from the "Y" on the Kenai Spur Highway.
