KOTZEBUE (AP) -- A teen from Northwest Alaska village of Noorvik is facing a charge of attempted murder, Alaska State Troopers said.
Chris Coffin, 17, was taken into custody Saturday after 51-year-old Leonard Brown of Noorvik called authorities. Brown said Coffin threatened to kill him and tried to break into his home. The teen was allegedly armed with a knife. Troopers did not disclose a motive.
Coffin fled the area when village public safety officers arrived. Troopers arrived and found Coffin hiding inside a house. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Kotzebue jail. Troopers said his case has been waived into adult court.
