Job Shadow hosts wanted
Job Shadow assists area students in choosing a career path by allowing them to visit a business for the day. Approximately 50 percent of Kenai Peninsula high school seniors remain in the area after graduation. Job Shadow is sponsored by the Kenai Chamber of Commerce, Kenai Central High School and Peninsula Job Center. Businesses interested in hosting a student Wednesday are asked to call the Kenai chamber at 283-7989.
Soldotna chamber to hold annual awards reception
The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce is holding its 45th annual awards reception to recognize outstanding businesses and individuals. Buffet style hors d'oeuvres by Isabelle's Fine Catering and no-host bar begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Soldotna Sports Center. Tickets are $25. For more information, call the chamber at 262-9814.
Government contracting workshop scheduled
An introductory 10-Step Approach to Successful Government Contracting workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Small Business Development Center, Suite, in the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road.
The workshop will focus on the steps a business needs to take to begin government contracting. It will cover how to find opportunities, identify work categories with the NAICS system, obtain a DUNS number, register in the Central Contractors Registry and develop general marketing materials and statements of qualifications.
