Nikiski girls topple Heritage Christian

The Nikiski Bulldogs girls picked up a 60-26 Southcentral Conference victory against the Heritage Christian Eagles Saturday in Anchorage. Sarah Herrin pumped in a game-high 20 points, Hannah Thompson added 18 points, and Sasha Auldridge pitched in 12 points in the win. Nikiski didn’t allow the Eagles to score in double figures in any quarter.

Ninilchik girls 54, Meade River 30

The host Wolverines picked up a nonconference victory Friday night. Kendra Moerlein paced Ninilchik with 12 points, while Heidi Skjold added 10 points.

Palmer girls 57, Skyview 37

The visiting Panthers dropped a Northern Lights Conference game to the Palmer Moose Friday at Palmer. Anna Blake led Skyview with 10 points. Leslie Berberich scored 17 points for Palmer. A complete box score was not available for the game.

Nikiski girls 39, Grace Christian 30

The Bulldogs used a big fourth quarter to knock off the host Grace Christian Grizzlies Friday. The fourth quarter proved to be the difference when Nikiski outscored Grace Christian 17-10. Sasha Auldridge netted 16 points, Sarah Herrin had 12 points, Stacey Griffel added nine points, and Kayla Jorgensen had two points in the win. A complete box score was not available for the game.

Cook Inlet Academy girls 26, Tok 23

The Eagles beat the Tok Wolverines during the Nenana Invitational Tournament Friday at Nenana High School. Mellissa Moffis scored 19 of her team’s total 26 points in the win. Heidi Hillyer added five points for the Eagles.

Colony boys 56, Skyview 41

The Panthers fell victim to the host Colony Knights Saturday in Northern Lights Conference action. Rich Shirnberg scored 18 points in the losing effort to lead Skyview. The Panthers were outscored 34-21 in the second half after trailing by only two points at halftime. David Registe led Colony with 12 points.

Heritage Christian boys 95, Nikiski 35

The Nikiski Bulldogs boys team dropped a Southcentral Conference game to host Heritage Christian Saturday in Anchorage. The game swayed against the Bulldogs early after they were outscored 34-8 in the opening quarter. Rick Miller and Justin Vance each scored 12 points for Nikiski. Peter Baldwin and Trenton Millar each netted 14 points to pace the Eagles.

Ninilchik boys 66, Meade River 46

The host Wolverines defeated Meade River for a nonconference victory Friday night. Mike Skrypjyk paced Ninilchik with 22 points, while Jesse Leman had 18 points, Austin Vanderford had nine points, Sean Dwyer had six points, Danny Roderick had five points, Brendan Cuffe had three points, John Chihuly had two points and John Self had a point. A complete box score was not available for the game.

Palmer boys 63, Skyview 49

Skyview lost a 63-49 Northern Lights Conference decision to the Palmer Moose Friday at Palmer High School. A complete box score was not available for the game.

Grace Christian boys 88, Nikiski 34

The visiting Nikiski Bulldogs lost a 88-34 game to the Grace Christian Grizzlies Friday. A complete box score was not available for the game.

Colony boys 65, Homer 43

The visiting Mariners dropped a Northern Lights Conference game to the Knights Friday. Jeremy Andrews led Homer with 16 points. Ryan Gray scored 18 points to lead Colony. A complete box score was not available for the game.

Seldovia boys 68, Nikolaevsk 41

The host Sea Otters picked up a Peninsula Conference victory over the Warriors Friday. Colton Collier led all scorers with 20 points for Seldovia, while Griffin Swick added 15 points for the Sea Otters. Eric Tutt had 15 points for the Warriors. There was no score available for the girls game.

CIA boys, 82, Anderson 29

The Eagles moved on in the Nenana Invitational Tournament with a win over Anderson Friday at Nenana High School. Jeremy Franchino led the Eagles with 17 points as every player on CIA’s roster scored. Nate Bryd pitched in 14 points in the win.
