Gators post victory

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Brett Nelson shot 4-for-8 from 3-point range and finished with 16 points and seven assists, leading No. 8 Florida to a 72-63 victory over South Carolina on Tuesday night.

The Gators (17-4, 6-3 Southeastern Conference) survived several second-half rallies by South Carolina to win their second straight game.

No. 12 Miami 65, Villanova 56

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- James Jones scored 16 points, including the first 11, and John Salmons scored all 13 of his points in the second half, leading No. 12 Miami past Villanova.

Miami (20-3, 7-3 Big East) has won six of seven since losing two straight a month ago.

Women's Top 25

NORMAN, Okla. -- Stacey Dales had 26 points and nine rebounds as No. 4 Oklahoma beat No. 10 Baylor 69-60 on Tuesday night for its 18th straight home victory.

Dales also had six assists, while LaNeishea Caufield added 18 points for the Sooners (19-2, 9-1 Big 12). The win was coach Sherri Coales' 100th at Oklahoma.

No. 11 Kansas St. 79, Missouri 61

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Nicole Ohlde scored 26 points on 12-for-18 shooting in Kansas State's victory over Missouri.

Kendra Wecker added 20 points and 11 rebounds for Kansas State (21-2, 9-2 Big 12). The Wildcats shot 62.3 percent from the field, including 70.4 percent in the second half.

No. 23 Virginia Tech 72, Miami 60

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Sarah Hicks scored 20 points as No. 23 Virginia Tech beat Miami to snap a three-game losing streak.

Erin Gibson and Nicole Jones each added 12 points for the Hokies (16-5, 7-3 Big East).
