Matrix features valentine songs

The fourth Matrix service, which will be conducted Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Christian Center, will feature special valentine songs, a song in sign language, Jump 5 kids praise and "Did God Watch the Super Bowl?"

Prizes will include four gas cards. Matrix also has a grocery bag that includes lunch makings for anyone who would like one. The Christian center is behind The Salvation Army Thrift Store on the Kenai Spur Highway in Soldotna.

LDS temple to be rededicated

The Anchorage temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will be rededicated by members of the First Presidency of the LDS church Sunday.

The temple, which has been closed since April 2003 for remodeling and expansion, is open only to church members in good standing.

The Anchorage temple, at 13161 Brayton Drive off the New Seward Highway, serves the entire state of Alaska and Canada's Yukon Territory, an area containing more than 27,000 Mormons.

Members of the church may view telecasts of the rededication at the LDS church in Soldotna on Sunday. Tickets are required.

Easter practice begins

Practice for the Soldotna Church of God community Easter program continues through March at the church, on the corner of Binkley Street and Redoubt Avenue.

Nikiski women begin Bible study

Nikiski Women's Aglow has begun a Beth Moore Bible study, "Breaking Free," on Wednesdays beginning at 9:30 am. Nikiski Aglow meets at North Star Methodist Church in Nikiski.

People who have started this study and would like to complete it are asked to contact Bev Berdahl at 776-8022 for more information. Babysitting will be provided if needed.

Poetry contest announced

A $1,000 grand prize is being offered in a special religious poetry contest sponsored by the New Jersey Rainbow Poets.

In all, 50 prizes will be awarded totaling almost $5,000. The contest is free to anyone and the deadline is Feb. 14.
