Siren test taking place today

The Kenai Peninsula Borough's Office of Emergency Management will be conducting its monthly alert siren test today at noon. The test consists of the attack and alert tones. The test is conducted the first Thursday of each month, excluding holidays. For more information, call the Office of Emergency Management at 262-4910.

Quilt exhibit at visitors center

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce After Hours is teaming up with First Thursday's at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center to present the exhibit "Quilts of Alaska," today from 4 to 6 p.m. This exhibit is sponsored by the Alaska State Museum. Planning commission to hold meeting

Community Rivers Planning Coalition will hold its full meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the Chapman School library in Anchor Point. The topic of the meeting will be, "The next phase in the Anchor Point Boat Harbor: The petition and its process." Carlson to speak at North Peninsula Chamber

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce weekly luncheon will be held at noon today at North Kenai Baptist Church. Guest speaker will be Cary Carlson of Forest Oil. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call the chamber at 776-3250.

Soroptimist meeting set for tonight

Soroptimist International of Twin Cities program meeting will be held at 5:30 tonight at the Peninsula Steak House. Guest speaker Dr. Gloria Adkins-Lindhartsen will discuss how to increase your energy levels and productivity and reduce injuries, both in the workplace and at home. Business meeting to follow. Red Cross offers CPR class

The American Red Cross offers monthly CPR/first aid classes. This class includes first aid with adult, child and infant CPR. The next available class is Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Cost is $58. For more information, or to preregister call Debbie at 262-4541.

Sweetheart dinner planned

The second annual "Sweetheart Dinner" will be held Saturday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the AMVET Post 30, located at 43335 Kalifornsky Beach Road.

Prime rib or dungeness crab with all the fixings and dessert will be served. Cost is $10 per plate, and a raffle will precede the evening's entertainment.

Homer carnival seeks information

Do you have a winter activity planned? The Homer Winter Carnival will be Friday through Sunday. Organizers are soliciting for events and activities to list on the official winter carnival events calendar. Foot care discussion planned

The Nikiski Senior Center is presenting Dr. Cotler, "The Foot Doctor," Wednesday at the senior center. Discussion about foot care needs will begin at 12:15 p.m. For more information, call the senior center at 776-7654.
