FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Rep. Don Young has a new chief of staff in his Washington office.
Michael Anderson, 49, a veteran of the Air Force's legislative liaison office, replaced Colin Chapman. Chapman, 34, has gone to work for a small Washington lobbying firm. Chapman had worked for Young since 1997.
Anderson began work Jan. 28. For the past 3 years, Anderson has served in the Air Force's legislative office, including about a year as staff director. He met Young while on the job.
The Air Force often provides aircraft for members of Congress to go on fact-finding trips. Air Force staff accompany lawmakers on those trips and Anderson has been to Alaska with Young on such trips.
The trips have given him a good look at the state, he said. He has visited the North Slope, northwestern Alaska, the Railbelt region and southeast Alaska.
