Gene Michael McLennan of Seward died Friday, Jan. 26, 2010 in Anchorage. He was 54.
Services for Mr. McLennan will be held at the Liberty Theatre in Seward on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. A bonfire and Irish wake will follow at the home of his son Tim Ludwig. For more information, please contact David Ludwig at 907-224-4878.
Mr. McLennan was born on June 8, 1955 to Archie Gene and Mickey McLennan in Grantspass, Ore. He worked as a Corrections Officer and in Law Enforcement.
His family writes that Mr. McLennan was the head of his clan and provided love, guidance and support for his sons, sisters, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and extended family.
"Gene was an avid outdoorsman. His sailboat and goldmine were his dream and he shared his adventures with his siblings, children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Gene introduced his family to the wonders of Alaska. Gene's love for Alaska was only exceeded by his love for his family and friends," his family said.
Mr. McLennan was preceded in death by his brother Tom Clontz and his mother Clara McLennan.
He is survived by sisters Sharon, Donna and Dana; nieces Misty, Sara, Leah and Jessica; nephew Daniel; sons Glenn and Tim Ludwig; grandchildren Chelsie, Mitchel, Kira, Tori, Britney, Brogen, Sophia; father Archie Gene McLennan of Grantspass Ore. ; brother Charles Hasbrook, sister Carol Hasbrook, nieces Tracy and Michelle and nephew Nicky, all of Texas; nephews Lennie, Larry and Royce, nieces Kati and Stephanie along with multiple cousins in Oregon; nieces Serina and Marisa in Washington; and numerous extended family of Alaska.
