JUNEAU (AP) -- A Joint Committee on Natural Gas Pipelines has hired a Washington, D.C. law firm to represent it on pipeline issues.
Hogan & Hartson was hired to a $150,000 contract to represent the Legislature on natural gas pipeline issues, said Sen. John Torgerson, R-Kasilof. Torgerson chairs the pipeline committee.
The law firm will represent the Legislature before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and advise lawmakers on federal pipeline issues, Torgerson said.
The Legislative Council, which represents the Legislature when it is not in session, authorized the pipeline committee to hire the attorney in its January meeting.
The contract will run through the current legislative session, which ends this year.
