Young Marines to host informational meeting
The Arctic Young Marines' next boot camp is planned soon. Boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18 may take part in the program. It is an opportunity to learn respect, courtesy and self-discipline.

Ski swap scheduled

Hospice fund-raiser set for Saturday
Tickets are available for the annual auction and wine tasting hosted by Hospice of the Central Peninsula. The event is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center. Art, trips and a variety of gift items have been donated for the auction, raffles and door prizes. Tickets cost $75 per couple or $37.50 per person and available by calling 262-0453
CIRCAC schedules meetings
The Cook Inlet Regional Advisory Council's PROPS committee and EMC committee have scheduled meetings this month. The PROPS committee will meet today at 10 a.m., while the EMC committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Kenai. The public is invited to attend. Red Cross offers CPR class

Family Fun Day planned for Sunday
All ages are invited to a Family Fun Day from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Skyview High School south of Soldotna. Outdoor activities will include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, ice skating and a bonfire. Indoors, the swimming pool will be open. It's free, including hot cocoa for all.

Foster parent workshop planned
The Alaska Foster Parent Training Center is hosting a Kenai Peninsula out-of-home care conference entitled, "Tools for Building Better Care for Children," from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday at Solid Rock Conference Center. Workshops will include managing anger and aggression in children, preparing teens for independent living, adoption options and legal guardianships, fetal alcohol syndrome, reactive attachment disorder and more. Foot care discussion planned

Kenai planning commission to hold work session
The city of Kenai Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a work session Wednesday in the city council chambers to continue reviewing goals and objectives for the city's Comprehensive Plan update. The Small Business Development Council is offering a seminar entitled "Creative Financing for Working Capital" from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Red Diamond Center. Library to celebrate Dr. Seuss
The Kenai Community Library will host a birthday party for Dr. Seuss March 2 at 2 p.m. This event is part of the National Read Across America Day, created by the National Education Association. There will be guest readers, prizes and birthday cake.
On March 4 at 6:30 p.m., the library will host "Creating a Family Storytelling Tradition" with Carol Ford. Ford will lead participants through the process of developing their own family tradition of storytelling.
