Seldovia boys take third at NIT

The Seldovia boys placed third and the Seldovia girls placed fourth on Saturday at the Nenana Invitational Tournament.

The boys rebounded from a 76-48 loss on Friday to Noorvik. Levi Harkness had 14 points for the Sea Otters while Tim O'Leary added 11. On Saturday, Seldovia notched a 51-46 victory over Nenana. Harkness had 21 points in the game, while Griffin Swick had 15 and Matthew Gain had 12.

After defeating Fort Yukon 53-30 behind 23 points from Courtney Collier, 14 from Kristy Gallien and 12 from Katie O'Leary, the Sea Otters topped Nikolaevsk 39-36 on Saturday in the fourth-sixth place game. Gallien had 15 points in the contest, while O'Leary had 13. For Nikolaevsk, Efrosia Yakunin had 12 points.

Houston sweeps Homer

The Houston girls and boys basketball teams swept Homer on Thursday in Houston.

In the boys game, Scott Herman scored 11 of his game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter for a 46-43 nonconference win.

The Houston defense allowed only 16 second-half points. Bryan Mason added 12 for the Hawks. Michael Pate paced Homer with 12 points.

In the girls game, Houston's Jen Mason scored 28 points in a 63-58 nonconfernece win.

Mason scored 22 of her points in the first half. Forward Alana Katzenberger scored 11 for the Hawks, while senior Emily Hundley added nine.

Reba Temple led the Mariners with 19, while Lindsay Layland had 14.
