Oliver graduates basic training
Air Force Airman Jacob W. Oliver recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
During his six weeks of training, he studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies. He also performed drill and ceremony marches and received instruction in physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and human relations.
Upon completion of his basic training, Oliver earned credits toward an associate's degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Anthony and Melissa Oliver of Soldotna and a 2003 graduate of Skyview High School.
Area residents make deans' lists
Clayton Harrison of Sterling was named to the dean's list at the College of Engineering and College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Idaho. To be named to the list, undergraduate students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.3 on 14 or more graded credits. Harrison is the son of Ed and Vicki Harrison and a 2003 graduate of Soldotna High School.
John Eric Rooper of Nikiski was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at North Carolina State University. Rooper maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. He is the son of Malcolm and Donna Rooper and brother of Laura Rooper and is a 2003 graduate of Nikiski Middle-Senior High School.
James Gregory Gabriel and Jennifer M. Garnett of Soldotna were named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Gonzaga University. Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher to be listed.
Marcie C. Zimmerman of Seward was named to the honor roll at Central Washington University. To be named to the honor roll, a student must maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA, while carrying at least 12 graded credit hours.
Cadet Corp. William J. Keller II of Soldotna was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at the Virginia Military Institute. He is the son of Bill and Carol Keller and a 2002 graduate of Soldotna High School.
Laura H. Rhyner of Kenai was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at the Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University. To be named to the list, students must maintain a 3.75 GPA or higher.
