Deadline for Teacher nominations looms

The deadline to nominate Kenai area school teachers for the BP Teacher of Excellence award is Feb. 14. The program recognizes Alaskan educators for their dedication to teaching and inspiring students. Each Teacher of Excellence will receive a $500 gift card and one teacher will be chosen as the Kenai BP Teacher of the Year. That teacher will receive a $1,500 scholarship for continuing education. Each of the recognized teachers' school or PTA will also be awarded $500. To nominate a teacher go to bpteachers.com. For more information, call Dawn Patience at 907-564-5143.

Sign unveiling for Navarre, Gilman facilities

The Kenai Peninsula Borough will hold a public dedication on Feb. 15 to unveil the new signs for the George A. Navarre Administration Building and the Donald E. Gilman River Center. The first unveiling will be at 4:30 p.m., in front of the Navarre building. The second unveiling will be at 5 p.m., at the Gilman river center. The public is invited to attend.
