Dementia care programs begin this weekend

The first of a series of two-day programs on Alzheimer's and related dementia will begin this month at the Land's End Resort in Homer. Jane Verity of Australia will present "Dementia -- A Danish-Australian Approach" from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The series will continue with sessions April 11 and 12, May 9 and 10 and June 6 and 7.

Nurses, nursing assistants, social workers and others who care for persons with dementia are encouraged to attend the free program, which is funded by a grant from the Alaska Commission on Aging. To register, call Betsy at (907) 235-7655, ext. 40.

Young Marines plan parent boot camp

There will be a parent orientation for Young Marine Boot Camp from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 22. Parents can sign up at the American Legion on Main Street in Kenai or, for more information, call Tom at 394-2437 or Mike at 283-5365.
