Nikiski students, community helped aid tsunami victims

Posted: Thursday, February 10, 2005

Nikiski Middle-Senior High School has once again shown its caring nature by helping those who have suffered from the tsunami disaster in December.

The Intensive Needs classroom, along with the student council, organized a fund-raiser between all of the classes. All the classes participated and raised close to $400 for the Glorious Children Home in Rameswaram, India. There also were donations made from the public during the Nikiski Tip-Off Basketball Tournament. All of these proceeds will go directly to help the displaced adults and children for food, shelter and water.

Again, this school and community came together to assist others who are in need of help. I am proud to be a part of this community and school. I am glad that my children attend a school with such caring atmosphere. Thank you to all who helped in this effort.
