Kenai Central coach Stacia Rustad said Lierin Flanagan had a good night offensively for the Kardinals. Nikiski coach Lee Moore said his team is improving, but the Kardinals were too tough.

"We played a better game against them this time than we did last time," Moore said. "That's every encouraging for us."

CIA boys 56, Whittier 48

The Cook Inlet Academy boys picked up a Peninsula Conference victory in Whittier on Monday.

CIA coach Justin Franchino said his team had defeated Whittier by 30 points in January, so the final score was closer than expected.

"We did not come out very intense," Franchino said.

He said Whittier has gotten a lot better this season, but he said his team also has gotten better this year.

"A lot of it was we were not ready to play," he said.
